The Chinese are setting their sights on Poland. They are building one of the largest battery plants in Europe in our country

One of the largest car battery factories in Europe will be built in Poland. Guotai-Huarong Poland is building a factory in Godzikowice. The project, in which the investor was assisted by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, is worth $45 million.

Guotai-Huarong is one of the world's three largest suppliers of electrolyte for lithium-ion battery cartridges. The factory will be built by 2020.

The Chinese are coming to the Vistula

The foreign project is in line with the strategy of the Development Program Electromobility in Poland, which is being prepared and implemented by the Ministry of Energy” – it stressed.

– The Godzikowice plant project by Chinese investor Zhangjiagang Guotai-Huarong New Chemical Materials (GTHR), is a element of the strategy to support the development of the electromobility industry in our country. We are extremely pleased that such investments are being made in Poland, which is becoming one of the world's most important participants in this industry,” – said Krzysztof Senger, PAIH vice president, quoted in Wednesday's announcement.

Senger adds that in the long run, such measures could translate into increase in the popularity of electric cars on our roads, and consequently a significant improvement in air quality in Poland. Among other things, the agency assisted the investor in finding a suitable plot of land, as well as mediated the contact with the Walbrzych Special Economic Zone.

Chinese factory in Lower Silesia

The electrolyte plant in Godzikowice in the Oława municipality will be one of the largest in Europe. The factory's location complements the European and regional electric car industry network. The factory's annual production volume would allow it to supply battery cartridges for up to 1 million electric cars per year. Sixty people will find work there. Ultimately, the team is to be expanded to 100 people.

As stated, PAIH is currently conducting 14 projects with electromobility segment with a total value of €2.87 billion, which could create nearly 4,400 jobs. Asian countries dominate among countries investing in electromobility.
